Imanishi Japanese Kitchen: Reviews & Ratings
Great place for sharing small plates of food. The service was excellent and the food was great. From the carpaccio to the soju high ball cocktails. The servers recommendations were spot on. Definitely recommend this spot for a date or for a group. The only downside was the chicken nanban, I mean it's like a deconstructed Mcchicken burger. Nothing Japanese about it.
Got a couple of small plates to share along with cocktails. The ribs, beef tataki, pork skewers were all outstanding. Lovely cocktails. The staff is so sweet - we’d gone during the dundas fest thing (when they shut down the whole street) and we were waiting for a bit so they were so sweet about setting up an extra table for us and getting us started before we even sat down so we wouldn’t get late for our show. It was just really sweet.
Amazing food, quick service, and a pleasant and lively atmosphere. So many amazing dishes that it's hard to fit them all in in one sitting, and we've tried... Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. Don't you dare leaving without having the Tokyo Toast dessert; it looks simple, but it's insanely delicious. On the menu: • Corn Kakiage: Sweet corn tempura • Ebi Fry: Deep fried jumbo prawn and tartar sauce, 3 pieces • Chicken nanban: Deep-fried and battered chicken, amazu vinegar, eggy tartar • Prawn and cilantro salad: Cilantro, prawns, almonds, cucumber, crispy shallots, nori, fish sauce dressing • Saba miso-ni: Miso braised mackerel, koji • Anchovy potato salad & chips: Served with seaweed salt taro chips • Beef tataki: Seared ribeye, fried chickpeas, red onion, sansho pepper, almond oil • Gailan Gomaae: Boiled Chinese broccoli, yuzu peel, sesame dressing, katsuo-bushi • Tofu & mizuna salad: Silken tofu, avocado, mizuna, shio-konbu dressing • Pickles: Cucumber, rice vinegar, kombu, chili pepper Dessert: • Tokyo toast: Deep fried thick cut sugar toasted Japanese milk bread, topped with ice cream and toasted soba Drinks: • Sesarac: Sesame infused lot 40, dry vermouth, maraschino liqueur, pernod • Yuzu lemonade Instagram: @imanishijapanesekitchen
The food, ambiance, and service are consistently outstanding. I’ve always been a fan of your cuisine, and I especially appreciate the daily specials that offer something beyond the regular menu. The dishes are expertly prepared, with the right balance of flavors that really stand out. The atmosphere is equally impressive, creating a welcoming and vibrant environment that perfectly complements the dining experience. And of course, the cocktails are always a delightful addition to the meal.
Went for a pop up collab with see you soon. Great service with unique but familiar food. The vibes are as great as they were when i last went here 6 years ago. Fun selection of sake and the dessert always hits.
The food was so delicious, we loved everything that we tried. The corn kakiage, tokyo toast with taro ice cream, karashi ribs, just writing about it makes my mouth water. Great food, we order several things to share so we could try variety. The service was also amazing, our server gave us really good suggestions about the dishes and the sake.
EXCELLENT SPOT! Right on the side of the park, we got the eggplant sandwich, and wow did it hit the spot, the eggplant was thin, crunchy and very flavourful and the pickles were crunchy. Going back for the EBI sandwich next! Quick and friendly service, have yet to try their coffee it looked a bit pricey.
While the interior and atmosphere were a solid 10/10, our server was quite the character. I didn’t catch his name (a white man with a man bun) but he definitely left an impression. He started off by telling us the food is meant to be shared. Fair enough but my friends and I each ordered our own dishes along with a few shared plates, especially since the portions were pretty small. For some reason, he looked visibly annoyed while taking our order. Later, when he came to clear our empty plates, I handed him my napkin. He snatched it pretty quickly and I guess I was holding it a bit tight because he gave me a side-eye. Maybe he was having a bad day but there’s no reason to project that energy onto customers. As for the food, it was mediocre. I’ve had better izakaya/Japanese fusion elsewhere. The dessert was phenomenal tho. Would I come back? Probably not, unless someone invited me for a special occasion.
